ONE COLOUR OF THREE DIFFERENT WORLD - REDISCOVER NATURE - LAND, SEA & AIR ART EXHIBITION

Dubai: People use art to help their well-being but also to draw attention to societal changes and issues. The combination of art and nature allows people to explore the natural world, create more profound meaning for themselves, and connect people through understanding and viewing their artwork. This article will discuss the importance of integrating art and nature and how various artists used nature to inspire them. Rediscover Nature has brought awareness to that delicate balance between man and the ecosystem.

‘REDISCOVER NATURE, opened Under the Patronage of Sheikh Humaid bin Khalid bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, on Sunday the 2nd of October for a week at Picasso Gallery Dubai, Curated by Jesno Jackson, Organised by Art4you Gallery, ‘Rediscover Nature’ exhibited work by 20 talented artists who have delved deep into the nature of their creative minds and souls and translated the theme in their own unique styles and genres. The interpretations flow from gentle waves and the exquisite, joyful creatures of the sea, fluid abstract seascapes, to its crystalline beauty of landscapes and whimsical stories of nature in all forms. 

Every artist has a vision, that first takes shape in their mind, which they then meticulously render, applying the effects of colour and contrast to create a magical mood that mirrors their imagination, thus suspending their vision forever in time, space and on their canvas. The expectations of the art fraternity were not compromised at all, the phenomenal curation by ART4You gallery stunned the crowd to an awestruck astonishment.

Art4you gallery founders Jesno Jackson & Rengi Cherian had magnificently executed yet another event by involving professional artists and their mind-blowing works. They gifted an amazing and creative evening to all those who went to experience the works and filled them with a unique respect for this form of art. The widely recognized and astounding 20 artists - Amin Bin Senan, Alaa El-Hag(UAE), Aliyah Vejlani, Shazia Zurgham Malik, Noma Faisal( Pakistan), Christine Dessa, Debra Masky, Dr. Ajit Gadekar, Juveriya Mahad, Maria Komal Abie, Merly Mathews, Megha Manjarekar, Vidhu Raghavan, Sahana Sen Paul, Nitya Subramanian(India), , Hannan Bazargad(Iran), Rafah Abdulrazzak(Syria), Reel Manan (Sudan), Shelina Khimji (Tanzania), Svetlana Kreventsova (Russia) joined together under the umbrella of ART4You gallery to create a phenomenal evening by unveiling their exquisite artworks.

Our natural world is full of amazing things. This exhibition shows the artists’ interpretation of the theme “Nature” - One Color of 3 different world -Land, Sea and Air. Over the years, artists have been drawn to use of this theme in their work. A subject so varied in its dimensions, that it provides a never-ending supply of ideas and nuances for the artist to explore. Nature in art take many visual forms, from photorealism to abstraction. Let's explore the works by each artist.

  • Merly Mathews: Her digital work has long been inspired by the sea world and how it intersects with the water environment. Her work comprises a series of observed repetitive patterns the artist has studied in everyday sea creatures and underwater environment. Fantasy knows no limits in the digital world and neither does the resulting emotion - That is simple yet impressively meaningful art of hers.
  • Reel Manan: Sudan-based artist Reel's illustration artworks often feature her signature stacked lines and forms. And focuses on two new bodies of abstraction works, is a great addition to her famous expressionist nature series. In her work, the artist confronts the lines between objective and subjective reality, navigates conversations around diversity and identity, and turns to her favored images of ‘Threads of Life’ to convey complex ideas about humanity and nature.
  • Nitya Subramanian: Her painting ‘Deep Sea Carnival’ was heavily influenced by the up-close observations of plants and animals’ life under the sea. This contemporary painting depicts the elements of sea and the things that live amongst them. Her both artworks were based on the lines and forms that she depicts in unique and vibrant way, which is created with an imaginative, expressionist abstract work of art. By observing the work that wants to represent these changes of shapes and colors, our perception can abandon itself in a unique and fantastic energetic universe where each creature is portrayed. Her works bring vitality into rooms and radiate a special atmosphere.
  • Alaa El-Hag: It’s no surprise that Emirati artist Alaa El-Hag has long turned to nature to explore her ideas around themes of self-identity, eternity, and infinity with her resin art luxury pieces. ‘Secret Garden’ series has a focus on her relationship with the planet and “reveals her lifelong fascination with the natural world.
  • Juveriya Mahadi: The Indian artist Juveriya is best known for her multi-layered, paper burned installation art, were inspired by the element fire. Each piece is completely unique, exploring a range of effects from lightly toasted to completely scorched, from delicate thin lines to dramatic dark edges.
  • Amin Bin Senan: Throughout time, Emirati artist Amin have used nature as a muse or motivation for creating his landscape painting with light and shadow focused. He identifies himself with the rhythm of greenery, by efforts and prepared his mastery which enabled him to express himself in his own language.
  • Dr. Ajit Gadekar: In his hyper realistic and photorealistic works, it is easy to forget, and even resist, that we are susceptible to natural forces. By observing his 5 beautiful landscapes, the viewers become more conscious of a true relationship with nature, an undoubtedly important feel of connection to the natural world. He is a promising talented artist who has beautifully showcased shadows, light, and reflection.
  • Noma Faisal: Abstracts work - 'Treasures of Sea' series from Noma Faisal, has a mindful reflection of underwater and the incredible things within it. Through the combination of colors, she expresses joyful mental energy and with the movement of the strokes she expresses physical energy, they are almost all very colorful and therefore joyful and energizing. 
  • Svetlana Kreventsova: Her abstract expressionist paintings allow her to fleetingly capture the ever-changing nature of the sea. This painting was inspired by the blues and turquoises of the clear water, with a touch of contrasting shades seen at daylight.
  • Debra Masky: She stays loyal to the topic of nature and deepens every time she paints and is humble to nature in its real form in intuitive spirit. Here she represents landscapes and atmospheres created by her imagination and dreams.
  • Megha Manjarekar: Her semi-abstract seascapes capture the essence of nature with expression and coincidences through reflections. Her approach is process-oriented and experimental, mostly in acrylic or mixed media. Between the individual phases of free work, in which she works more intuitively, gestural and dynamic, with analytical moments. The intensive color effect is an important impulse and supports her paintings. We can also see colorful, bright series that wants to express admiration and joy towards Nature. A semi-abstract interpretation of the "Fish" painting has interpreted in a slightly poetic key and with a mystical fusion of colors.
  • Rafah Abdulrazzak: The choice to express herself in the abstract genre was driven by a spontaneous need for artist Rafah, where she is able to access unlimited creativity and expressive freedom through free experimentation for technique, materials and colors in palette knife art. She is attracted to Nature which is her main source of inspiration and from which she takes the colors. Nature is "infinite", perfect and chaotic at the same time .... "Mother" of everything!!!
  • Shazia Malik: In her seascapes, she has created something that is a little bit different with a modern outlook with textures, and palette knife art, the simplicity of the individual lines creates a good structure in total.
  • Maria Komal Abie: There has also been some research done on the importance of art and nature to the well-being of others, by art educator Maria. She displayed a creative combination of arts- and nature-based sustainable art pieces to combat the pressing issue of climate change. By adopting and implementing the good habits of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling in the daily lives, she brings about a positive change with her art piece. Maria attempted to replicate her message through her artwork where she has shown the former main occupation of the ancestors of the UAE - an Underwater Pearl Diver performing his duty, which help us Rediscover the Beauty of our Nature.
  • Vidhu Raghavan: Nature also inspires the digital artist – Vidhu, beyond dimensional visionary art. He created a virtual reality environment where people could surf through for beautiful peaceful experiences integrated with serene music and beautiful meta dimensional geometrical art. His digital works are unique, spectacular and limitless.
  • Alfiyah Vejlani: Pakistani artist draws inspiration from the natural beauty around her country. Her paintings offer a spin on traditional landscape art, and she uses nature beauty and seasonal climate change as inspiration.
  • Christine Dessa: Her watercolour paintings are inspired by her love for the ocean and the tranquil walks with selective palette of turquoise and shades of blue were used to emphasize the calm and feeling of serene sea. This series of works of art is dedicated to the sensory fascination of water.
  • Shelina Khimji: The Tranquility and calming effect of the ocean due to the aqua green colour and the spray of the crashing waves is a scene, portrayed by Tanzanian artist – Shelina. This painting conveys not only the beauty of nature but also her impression of her love for the beaches and coastal life.
  • Sahana Sen Paul: The series ‘White Paradise’ is set a minimalistic painting by Sahana, exuberates beauty in subtility. White gives a sense of purity, innocence, and peace, all of which can also be found in nature. Her 4 artworks are best for the classy collection for interiors. Her abstract experimentation wants to be an invitation to continue remembering some sensations and emotions aroused in her by the proximity to water through the vision of the painting from her life moment.
  • Hannan Bazargad: Her minimalism seashore works were dominant with blue color that makes this piece a perfect addition to an interior with similar decor elements. The colorful strips of waves remind the calm seashore. She created these artworks which let peace, harmony, and serenity in nature.

"Rediscover Nature” was officially inaugurated by Chief Guest – Sheikh Humaid bin Khalid bin Muhammed Al Qasimi and Sheikha Lamis bint Hamed bin Ali Al Mualla and H.E Laila Rahhal El Atfani – Art4you Brand Ambassador, Guest of Honor – Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmad, H.E Ali Al Mazem and Advisor Omar Al Asiri, are only some of the dignitaries who were invited to grace the evening.

The event also witnessed a panel talk lead by the Curator and Art Educator – Jesno Jackson with 4 Panelists – Canadian artist, Mr. Peter Farrington, who is appreciated globally for his amazing contributions as Environmental Specialist, who provided strategic advice on nature conservation, climate change, environmental awareness and environmental impact assessment. Other speaker was Hanane Benkhallouk - who supports creating cultures of innovation in order to sustain their leadership and remain relevant in an ever-changing business landscape. The other speaker was Akeelah Bertram, a visual artist, produces work across Light, Sound, New Media Art, Interaction Design, Sculpture and Performance, exploring heritage & identity through creative technology. The fourth speaker was Maria Komal Abie, an Art Educator who tries to capture the essence of a subject and converts it into captivating pieces of artwork connecting with sustainability and art. This discussion helped the participating artists and visitors to share and enhance their awareness on the ‘Art & Seeds of Change’ and the process of conversion of Nature to captivating artworks. A detailed explanation on the ‘Important changes connecting with Nature & Art’, ‘Ecosystem approach to restore balance’, The Art of Light’, ‘The Impact of sustainable art’, was indeed a helpful information to the visitors which will surely inspire them to know more about seeds of change.

Art opens your eyes to the intricacy and beauty of the natural world. It can simply be a pretty picture that appreciates nature for what it is... or it can be a challenging piece expressing our complex human connection to nature. At Rediscover Nature exhibition, Art served a purpose beyond being an object of beauty: it has addressed pressing environmental issues and topics about conservation, sustainability, preservation, biodiversity, and threatened habitats. The 60 artworks exhibited, educated the viewers about these issues, spreading awareness about such important topics.

Motto: We feel an instinctual need to take care of the NATURE we feel connected to. Art helps to renew our connection with nature. That’s what we call REDISCOVER NATURE.
